Mrs. Rosario Esther Cedeno (née Linero), of Weehawken, NJ, passed away on Tuesday, April 21st, 2020 at the age of 69.

Rosario was born to parents Victor Linero and Sobeida Lastra on May 19th, 1950 in Barranquilla, Colombia. She grew up as the eldest of seven. She spent her childhood in Colombia, later traveling between Colombia and Venezuela, before coming to the United States in 1985. She quickly embraced the American lifestyle but always held a special place in her heart for her Colombian roots. She visited her family back home as often as she could. In Colombia she was known as “Chayo” and in Venezuela she was known as “Gisela.”

An accomplished seamstress, Rosario created beautiful garments on her beloved Singer sewing machine. This inspired her love for fashion, and unique style. She was secretly a talented artist and could recreate images freehand. She was also an amazing cook and could always be found in the kitchen cooking for her family and friends. Rosario was an active member of the local flea market community for over 30 years. She spent most of her weekends socializing at local church flea markets. This community has always been a second family to her.

Rosario had many passions, and caregiving was always first and foremost. It came naturally to her.  She loved being an Abuelita and was immensely proud of all her grandchildren’s accomplishments. Her children would describe her as fierce, unbelievably determined, loving, and most of all selfless. She had a lively personality and easily made friends wherever she would go. She always made people around her smile and laugh.

Rosario is survived by her seven children; her daughters, Deisy, Vielka, Mayra, Jovanna and Veronica; her sons, Wilmer and Julian; her sisters, Carmen, Vielka, Vilma, Elsa, and Angelica; her brother Walter; seventeen grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents Victor and Sobeida; and her brother, Victor. Her beloved dogs, Nina and Lola, will also miss her greatly.
