Joseph P. Reynolds
passed away peacefully on Feb. 27, 2020. He was born in Hoboken on September 15, 1934 and was a lifelong resident of North Bergen.
Drafted into the army after basic training at Fort Dix in 1955, Joe was one of the few soldiers chosen for the Presidential Honor Guard, the “elite” 3rd Regiment in Washington, DC guarding President Dwight D. Eisenhower. He also served proudly in the 8th Combat Division, the Fighting 69th, in Korea.
Joe served on The North Bergen Planning Board for 8 years, was a North Bergen Pool Commissioner and a beloved Little League Coach. A retired off-set pressman, Joe most recently worked for 14 years as a Law Enforcement Officer at the High Tech High School in North Bergen.
Joe was a proud and true NY Giants fan and season ticket holder since 1976.
Joe is survived by his wife of 62 years, Janet (Maclosky) of North Bergen; one daughter, Deborah Martin and her husband, Gerald of West Caldwell; one son, Joseph Reynolds, Jr. and his wife Teresa of Boonton Township; two grand-dogs, Remy and Benji; devoted family friends, Robert Cameron of Fort Lauderdale, FL, and Keith DeCarlo of North Bergen; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his parents, Joseph Sr. and Mary, and two sisters, Patricia Stolzenberger of Parsippany and Mary Diss of California.
In lieu of flowers, Joe asks that you “Buy yourself a drink and he’ll pay you back when he sees you in Heaven.” Seriously, in lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate to your favorite charity.
