Obituary

Angelina Saurino passed away peacefully at home on November 12, 2020, at the age of 92. She was lovingly married to her husband Leonardo Saurino, who surpassed her in death in 2011. They were married for 65 years.

She came to America in 1949 from Panni, Italy with her beloved husband Leonardo and daughter Concetta. She would later go on to have two more children, a daughter Louise and a son Vito. While raising her children she worked as a hand finishing seamstress on coats. She was best known for being the matriarch of the family. Angie was a hard working and a dedicated mother, grandmother, sister and aunt.

She was famous for making bread, pizza, cookies and cooking large family meals. When Angie said dinner was at 3pm she meant it! She will forever be known for her meatballs, lasagna, roast beef and mash potatoes! She cooked everything with love and it showed. She appreciated the simple things in life from constantly having grandkids around to passing her heritage to the next generation by teaching her recipes. When she wasn’t trying to teach the next generation her recipes, she was learning how to spell in English, by watching Wheel of Fortune. When that was done it was time to chat with family and neighbors on the stoop, before calling it a night. Angie enjoyed a special relationship with her sister, Michelina whom she loved dearly.

She is survived by her children Concetta Martinucci, Louise Idavoy, Vito Saurino and wife Sandra. Her grandchildren Massimo Martinucci, Lisa Martinucci-LaDue, Tina Fors, Angela Saurino, Mikelle Colaneri, Cybill Tascarella and her great grandchildren Joseph, Michelle, and Nicholas Martinucci, Isabella and Paige LaDue, Sophia and Gianna Fors, Johnny Colaneri, Madalyn Colaneri, and Drew Tascarella her sister Michelina Imperato and Michelina’s children Lisa Imperato and Diane Cerritelli.

Even during times of social distancing, anyone who has suffered a loss deserves love and support more than ever before. Let the family know you care by leaving treasured memories, thoughts and prayers in our Online Guestbook.
